Respite Care Services

 345. Deputy Brendan Smith Information on Brendan Smith Zoom on Brendan Smith asked the Minister for Health Information on Stephen Donnelly Zoom on Stephen Donnelly if he will ensure day and respite services will be restored for persons with a disability; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19512/20]

Minister of State at the Department of Health (Deputy Anne Rabbitte): Information on Anne Rabbitte Zoom on Anne Rabbitte The Government is committed to providing services and supports for people with disabilities which will empower them to live independent lives, provide greater independence in accessing the services they choose, and enhance their ability to tailor the supports required to meet their needs and plan their lives.

As the Deputy's question relates to service matters, I have arranged for the question to be referred to the Health Service Executive (HSE) for direct reply to the Deputy.

Disability Services Provision

 346. Deputy Brendan Smith Information on Brendan Smith Zoom on Brendan Smith asked the Minister for Health Information on Stephen Donnelly Zoom on Stephen Donnelly when services including occupational therapy, speech and language therapy will resume for children with special needs or a disability; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19513/20]

Minister of State at the Department of Health (Deputy Anne Rabbitte): Information on Anne Rabbitte Zoom on Anne Rabbitte The recently published Programme for Government document "Our Shared Future" recognises the need to improve services for both children and adults with disabilities through better implementation and by working together across Government in a better way.

  The  Government commits to prioritising early diagnosis and access to services for children and ensuring that the most effective interventions are provided for each child, to guarantee the best outcomes.

  As the Deputy's question relates to a service issue, it has been referred to the HSE for direct reply.

Treatment Abroad Scheme

 347. Deputy Thomas Gould Information on Thomas Gould Zoom on Thomas Gould asked the Minister for Health Information on Stephen Donnelly Zoom on Stephen Donnelly if an application by a person (details supplied) for the treatment abroad scheme for referral to the NHS for treatment of sarcoidosis will be reviewed and expedited on compassionate grounds. [19515/20]

Nursing Home Accommodation

  The Department has been made aware of the two independent designated centres referred to by the Deputy that provide residential care in Dublin who have notified the HSE that they are no longer in a position to continue to operate. I have referred the Deputy’s questions to the HSE to answer the operational elements to his questions.

Nursing Staff

 357. Deputy Neale Richmond Information on Neale Richmond Zoom on Neale Richmond asked the Minister for Health Information on Stephen Donnelly Zoom on Stephen Donnelly when extra Parkinson’s nurses will be recruited in Leinster in view of the fact there is one nurse per 1,760 persons with the condition which is significantly less than in Northern Ireland or the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19534/20]
