 99.  Deputy John Deasy Information on John Deasy Zoom on John Deasy  asked the Minister for Education and Skills Information on Ruairí Quinn Zoom on Ruairí Quinn  the cost to the Exchequer in each of the past five years of increments paid to primary teachers and post primary teachers [19690/12]

Minister for Education and Skills (Deputy Ruairí Quinn): Information on Ruairí Quinn Zoom on Ruairí Quinn The information available in my Department in regard to the request by the Deputy is being compiled and will be forwarded directly to him. The information will relate to teachers in Primary, Secondary, Community and Comprehensive Schools.

My Department does not hold information on the payment of increments to teachers employed by vocational education committees (VECs). Each VEC is a separate employer operating its own payroll system and, accordingly, the information sought would require an inordinate amount of administrative time to compile.
