It is run by a voluntary organisation, Valentia Community Health and Welfare Association Ltd, and has a service level agreement with the HSE under Section 39 of the Health Act 2004. Section 39 agencies are not public service bodies and their employees are not public servants. In this regard the Minister has no function in relation to staffing levels at Valentia Community Hospital. Minister Reilly recently met a group representing Valentia Hospital in Dingle and undertook to examine positively the issues raised by the group in regard to services provided at Valentia.
