 370.  Deputy Denis Naughten Information on Denis Naughten Zoom on Denis Naughten  asked the Minister for Justice and Equality Information on Alan Shatter Zoom on Alan Shatter  his plans to reform the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act 1956; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6200/12]

[490]Minister for Justice and Equality (Deputy Alan Shatter): Information on Alan Shatter Zoom on Alan Shatter I refer the Deputy to my reply below to Parliamentary Question No. 61 of 25 October 2011. The position is unchanged since then.

I have no plans at present to reform the legislation on citizenship and naturalisation beyond those changes contained in the Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2011.

My primary objective for legislative reform in the immigration area is to progress the Immigration, Residence and Protection Bill 2010 through the Oireachtas.

I will, of course, continue to keep the Act in question under review.
