Minister for Finance (Deputy Michael Noonan): Information on Michael Noonan Zoom on Michael Noonan I propose to take Questions Nos. 63 and 64 together.

[314]I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that for the tax year 2009, the latest year for which the necessary detailed data is available, the number of income earners earning in excess of €100,000 was 109,109 and paid €4.9 billion in income tax. It should be noted that a married couple who has elected or has been deemed to have elected for joint assessment is counted as one tax unit.
