 177. Mr. Murphy Information on Gerard Murphy Zoom on Gerard Murphy  asked the Minister for Health and Children Information on Micheál Martin Zoom on Micheál Martin  when funding will be provided to create the nursing post for an association (details supplied) in County Cork. [26962/02]

Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children (Mr. Callely): Information on Ivor Callely Zoom on Ivor Callely Responsibility for the provision of services in County Cork rests with the Southern Health Board. The Southern Health Board has been allocated additional revenue funding of €3.739 million for services for older people in 2003. It is a matter for the board to determine its priority projects for the year in the light of the available funding.

I have been informed by the Southern Health Board that at present the nursing post is a temporary post providing 30 hours service weekly. This post is to be upgraded to a full time 39 hour service and it is expected to be advertised early in 2003.
