 316. Mr. Deasy Information on John Deasy Zoom on John Deasy  asked the Minister for Health and Children Information on Micheál Martin Zoom on Micheál Martin  the average time in each health board area before temporary nurses are made permanent; if his attention has been drawn to the financial difficulty this causes to temporary nurses who after a period of years are made permanent and have to make back payment for pension purposes covering their period of temporary employment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Martin): Information on Micheál Martin Zoom on Micheál Martin Responsibility for the permanent appointment of temporary nurses rests with the health boards-ERHA. My Department has therefore, requested the information from the chief executive officers and will write to the Deputy when the information is received.
