252. Ms Enright   asked the Minister for Education and Science when he intends to hold negotiations with unions on the practical implementation of the Education (Welfare) Act, 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24495/02]
Minister for Education and Science (Mr. N. Dempsey): A claim on behalf of the three teacher unions is being processed through the teachers conciliation and arbitration scheme.
Negotiations are ongoing with the union representing the former school attendance officers, who are now staff of the National Educational Welfare Board, as to the terms and conditions of the officers as educational welfare officers.
