 251. Ms Enright Information on Olwyn Enright Zoom on Olwyn Enright  asked the Minister for Education and Science Information on Noel Dempsey Zoom on Noel Dempsey  when he intends to provide information and guidance on the Education (Welfare) Act, 2000, to schools; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Education and Science (Mr. N. Dempsey): Information on Noel Dempsey Zoom on Noel Dempsey The National Educational Welfare Board is an independent statutory body established under the Education (Welfare) Act, 2000, to implement the provisions of the Act.

The Act contains a number of provisions on guidance and assistance to be provided by the board to schools. At present the board is recruiting its head office staff, including a number of senior management posts. The board, advised by its staff, will prepare appropriate material as soon as possible.
