460. Mr. Andrews   asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government his views on the level of compliance with the Housing (Registration of Rented Houses) Regulations, 1996; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23352/02]
Minister of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government (Mr. N Ahern): Responsibility for enforcing the Housing (Registration of Rented Houses) Regulations, 1996, rests with local authorities, who have been advised by my Department of the need to put in place effective arrangements in this regard.
