232. Mr. Ring   asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will abolish the requirement for a 10% local contribution towards the building or refurbishment work in primary schools; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3838/02]
Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods): Under the new funding arrangements for building projects introduced in January, 1999, the amount of the local contribution for school extensions was reduced from 15% to 10% and, in addition, the contribution is capped at €31,500. These arrangements are of a general application.
