 168. Mr. Ring Information on Michael Ring Zoom on Michael Ring  asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands Information on Síle de Valera Zoom on Síle de Valera  the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo did not receive a cull ewe payment for 2001; and when this payment will be made. [3842/02]

Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands (Miss de Valera): Information on Síle de Valera Zoom on Síle de Valera According to information provided to my Department, the person mentioned is in the REP scheme. As the ewe compensation scheme run by my Department is an alternative, rather than an addition, to REPS, no payment is due to the person in this instance. If the person only joined REPS during 2001 he should write into Dúchas, the Heritage Service of my Department, confirming the date he joined REPS and my staff will examine his claim to see if he is entitled to a payment for the time he was not in REPS.
