 123. Mr. Penrose Information on Willie Penrose Zoom on Willie Penrose  asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development Information on Joe Walsh Zoom on Joe Walsh  the reason the townland of Clonfad, of the DED of Clonfad, was included as a disadvantaged area by the appeals panel; the further reason the other townlands of Meedin, Calverstown, Killrennan and Templeoran were not included; if he can revisit same and give consideration to having these other four townlands included; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3873/02]

Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (Mr. Walsh): Information on Joe Walsh Zoom on Joe Walsh In the overall examin[1609] ation of that part of County Westmeath, the townland of Clonfad was designated as less severely handicapped as part of the fourth review, as it satisfied the criteria for designation as less severely handicapped land. The other four townlands listed were examined by the disadvantaged areas appeals panel as part of the fourth review. The appeals panel did not recommend that the criteria for less favoured status could be satisfied with the available data. I have no plans to carry out a review of disadvantaged areas.

 124. Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin Information on Breeda Moynihan-Cronin Zoom on Breeda Moynihan-Cronin  asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development Information on Joe Walsh Zoom on Joe Walsh  if he will provide figures which will apply to the proposed new scheme for disadvantaged area based payments in mountain areas; the way in which these will compare with the figures which were supplied for 2001 (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3874/02]

Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (Mr. Walsh): Information on Joe Walsh Zoom on Joe Walsh The information requested is not readily available. I have asked that the information be collated as soon as possible and forwarded to the Deputy when it becomes available.
