 165. Mr. Ring Information on Michael Ring Zoom on Michael Ring  asked the Minister for Education Information on Niamh Bhreathnach Zoom on Niamh Bhreathnach  when the boards of management will commence employing bachelor of education graduates; and when her Department will make finances available in this regard. [17862/96]

Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): Information on Niamh Bhreathnach Zoom on Niamh Bhreathnach I assume that the Deputy is referring to primary teachers. In this context, I can assure him that the vast majority of primary teachers entering the profession are B.Ed. degree holders.

The matter of providing finances to boards of management to allow boards employ B.Ed. degree holders does not arise because the salary of primary teachers is paid in full by my Department.
