124. Mr. Nolan   asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the representations, if any, he has made to the European Commission for an increase in our sugar beet quotas for 1996; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6810/96]
Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry (Mr. Yates): Quotas in the sugar sector relate to manufactured sugar. In 1995 the quotas were settled for all member states for the period up to and including the year 2000/2001. The question of an adjustment of quotas does not, therefore, arise at this time.
