28. Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Education the decision, if any, she has made in relation to extending grant aid to Irish students on approved third-level courses in Britain; the constitution of an approved course; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6683/96]
Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): Consideration of the arrangements and conditions in relation to the extension of maintenance grants abroad is close to finalisation in my Department at present.
The necessary details will be set out in the 1996 student support schemes with any other amendments that may prove necessary in the light of the normal ongoing review of the schemes.
In line with the practice in recent years, the schemes will issue to the local authorities and vocational education committees by early May.
