23.

Mr. T.J. Fitzpatrick: Information on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick Zoom on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick (Cavan) asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received a tender for the work necessary to provide a group water scheme at Templeport, County Cavan; and when he proposes to approve of same.

Mr. P. Brennan: Information on Patrick Brennan Zoom on Patrick Brennan No tender has been submitted to my Department for Templeport group water scheme.

A proposal from Cavan County Council to meet the cost of certain alterations in pipe sizes in the scheme to provide for integration with a possible future regional scheme is at present under consideration. I hope to be in a position to convey a decision on the matter to the local authority shortly.

Mr. T.J. Fitzpatrick: Information on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick Zoom on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick (Cavan): Will the Parliamentary Secretary bear in mind that the people of Templeport subscribed approximately £900 two years ago to get this scheme under way? When the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Agriculture was on a visit 12 months ago, he promised he would have the matter attended to as soon as he got back to Dublin. Will the Parliamentary Secretary now see to it that there is no further delay in his Department over the provision of this group water supply?

Mr. P. Brennan: Information on Patrick Brennan Zoom on Patrick Brennan Originally there was some difficulty regarding the source. Then it was found there was an unusually high agricultural demand and they met within the past couple of months to consider expanding the [1332] scheme, getting in more householders, and making a further contribution themselves.

Mr. T.J. Fitzpatrick: Information on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick Zoom on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick (Cavan): Does the Parliamentary Secretary agree that this scheme was approved of in principle about two years ago and that this group of people were asked to subscribe between £800 and £900, that they did so and that since then, they have had no co-operation from his Department in getting the scheme completed?

Mr. P. Brennan: Information on Patrick Brennan Zoom on Patrick Brennan I would not say that. We are awaiting a tender from the group at the moment.

Mr. T.J. Fitzpatrick: Information on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick Zoom on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick (Cavan): It is a question of waiting for sanction from the Department.

Mr. P. Brennan: Information on Patrick Brennan Zoom on Patrick Brennan We are awaiting a tender. We have no tender from the group.

Mr. T.J. Fitzpatrick: Information on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick Zoom on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick (Cavan): I could not hear the Parliamentary Secretary too clearly. Did I understand him to say that something was under consideration in his Department? What is it?

Mr. P. Brennan: Information on Patrick Brennan Zoom on Patrick Brennan A proposal from Cavan County Council to meet the cost of certain alterations in pipe sizes to provide for integration with a possible future regional scheme. But we have no tender submitted from the group. The county council have agreed to contribute to the increased cost as a result of the increase in the pipe size.

Mr. T.J. Fitzpatrick: Information on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick Zoom on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick (Cavan): Do I understand they have submitted that to the Department and the Department are considering it?

Mr. P. Brennan: Information on Patrick Brennan Zoom on Patrick Brennan Yes.

Mr. T.J. Fitzpatrick: Information on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick Zoom on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick (Cavan): Will the Parliamentary Secretary please finalise the consideration and get a decision back?

Mr. P. Brennan: Information on Patrick Brennan Zoom on Patrick Brennan In the meantime we are awaiting a tender from the group for the scheme.

[1333]Mr. T.J. Fitzpatrick: Information on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick Zoom on Thomas J. Fitzpatrick (Cavan): There has been nothing but obstruction of this scheme all along.
