Mr. Treacy: Information on Seán Treacy Zoom on Seán Treacy asked the Minister for Justice whether Gardaí who retired between 20th December 1960 and 1st November 1961 have benefited from [440] the recent nine per cent pension increase; and if not, why.

Minister for Justice (Mr. B. Lenihan): Information on Patrick J. Lenihan Zoom on Patrick J. Lenihan Garda pensioners who retired between the dates mentioned in the Deputy's question have had the pensions which were awarded to them on retirement increased by 9 per cent under the 1965 pensions increases. As these pensions had already been increased by 5 per cent under the 1964 pensions increases, the net increase which became payable from the 1st August, 1965, was 4 per cent.
