Mr. Ryan: Information on Richie Ryan Zoom on Richie Ryan and Mr. Clinton asked the Minister for Education when a vocational school for girls will be erected in Ballyfermot, Dublin, to meet the urgent needs of that district.

Mr. Colley: Information on George Colley Zoom on George Colley I cannot say when a vocational school for girls will be erected in Ballyfermot, Dublin. The [223] provision of such a vocational school is a matter in the first instance for the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee and my power is one of sanction only.

Mr. Clinton: Information on Mark A. Clinton Zoom on Mark A. Clinton Could the Minister say if he has any proposals from the vocational education committee?

Mr. Colley: Information on George Colley Zoom on George Colley I have not.

Mr. Ryan: Information on Richie Ryan Zoom on Richie Ryan Does the Minister recall that the European Social Charter, to which Ireland is a party, contains a covenant guaranteeing vocational education for all citizens and, that being so, will he treat as a matter of extreme urgency the question of providing without delay vocational training for girls in Ballyfermot, an area larger than the city of Waterford?

Mr. Colley: Information on George Colley Zoom on George Colley I have no proposals in this regard from the committee, but if I receive them, they will obtain sympathetic consideration from me.

Mr. Ryan: Information on Richie Ryan Zoom on Richie Ryan There will be no delay? The axe will not be used as it is being used elsewhere?
