Mr. Barrett: asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will give instructions that the present practice of disconnecting without further warning telephone subscribers who have overlooked the payment of their account after one application for payment, be discontinued.
Mr. J. Brennan: The practice is not as stated. A telephone subscriber is not disconnected until two written applications for payment have been issued. These are the original telephone [212] account and a reminder giving a further seven days' credit which is sent three to four weeks later.
