Mr. Corish: Information on Brendan Corish Zoom on Brendan Corish asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, further to a reply regarding the introduction of an automatic telephone exchange in Wexford, he will state the difficulties in providing this service before mid-1968.

Mr. Brennan: Owing to developments which involved revision of the accommodation requirements of the equipment after it was originally planned, it was necessary to extend the building provided for the exchange. Some additional site area was needed, and acquisition of this proved difficult.

Erection of the building extension cannot be expected until early next year after which the installation of the automatic exchange will proceed. In the circumstances the opening of the new exchange earlier than mid-1968 cannot be envisaged.
