19.

Mr. Clinton: Information on Mark A. Clinton Zoom on Mark A. Clinton asked the Minister for Local Government if he is now in a position to state when money will be made available for land acquisition and for the building of local authority houses in County Dublin.

Mr. Blaney: Information on Neil T.C. Blaney Zoom on Neil T.C. Blaney The Minister for Finance has aproved the issue from the Local Loans Fund of loans amounting to £734,100 since September last in respect of local authority houses being provided by Dublin County Council. Applications for further housing loans [196] totalling £371,700 are at present under consideration. I understand that only a small sum is outstanding in respect of applications made by Dublin County Council to the Office of Public Works for instalments of approved loans for local authority housing.

As regards loans for the acquisition of land two loan applications for sums totalling £139,000 are under examination in my Department.

Mr. Clinton: Information on Mark A. Clinton Zoom on Mark A. Clinton Is the Minister aware that this land was purchase last spring and that a man, who sold one of these farms and bought another farm, is in serious difficulties because the money is not forthcoming? All land acquisition has ceased because it is well known there is no money to pay for it.

Mr. Blaney: Information on Neil T.C. Blaney Zoom on Neil T.C. Blaney If Deputies keep whistling that around the country they will get somebody to believe it and there will be repercussions to the disadvantage of their constituents. I cannot help that.

Mr. Clinton: Information on Mark A. Clinton Zoom on Mark A. Clinton Will the Minister deny that this has been outstanding since last spring?

Mr. Blaney: Information on Neil T.C. Blaney Zoom on Neil T.C. Blaney I have known of other cases where it took longer for the sale to go through. There is no question of a shortage of money. Titles are not cleared in twice that time.

Mr. Clinton: Information on Mark A. Clinton Zoom on Mark A. Clinton The title is clear all right; it is a question of the money.
