Mr. Pattison: Information on Séamus Pattison Zoom on Séamus Pattison asked the Minister for Local Government the reasons for the delay in sanctioning proposals of Kilkenny County Council for the erection of a scheme of houses at Newpark, Kilkenny.

Mr. Blaney: Information on Neil T.C. Blaney Zoom on Neil T.C. Blaney The council's application for a loan to finance this scheme is under consideration.

Mr. Pattison: Information on Séamus Pattison Zoom on Séamus Pattison Could the Minister say how long that matter has been under consideration?

Mr. Blaney: Information on Neil T.C. Blaney Zoom on Neil T.C. Blaney I suppose since we got it. This is one in which the contractor pulled out of the tender already agreed to. It was reviewed by the local council and became the subject of a proposal to do the work by direct labour. It is this proposal, for whatever the sum is, that is before the Department.

Mr. Pattison: Information on Séamus Pattison Zoom on Séamus Pattison How long is that before the Department?

Mr. Blaney: Information on Neil T.C. Blaney Zoom on Neil T.C. Blaney The contract I speak of was last October. I could not say when the proposal to do it by direct labour was formulated but it was certainly after October.
