Mr. Ryan: Information on Richie Ryan Zoom on Richie Ryan asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state with reference to the data on housing expenditure by local authorities set out in the Statistical Abstract the main heads of such expenditure and the average proportions thereof in respect of (i) maintaining or improving old houses, and (ii) providing new houses.

Expenditure on the maintenance and repair of local authority houses was approximately 11 per cent of total housing revenue expenditure in the years 1960-61 to 1963-64 inclusive. It is estimated that approximately 40 per cent of the capital expenditure shown under Loan and Stock Accounts related to the provision of new houses by housing authorities.
