Mr. Barrett: asked the Minister for Finance the number of applications received for the post of Local Government inspector (air pollution) advertised early this year at a salary scale of £2,150-£2,505 per annum; the number of applicants interviewed; and the number of appointments made.

Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (Mr. J. Brennan) (for the Minister for Finance): Information on Joseph Brennan Zoom on Joseph Brennan The post was first advertised in July, 1965. Nine applications were received but none of the applicants was eligible. It was again advertised early this month. The closing date for applications is 12 October, 1966. The rest of the question, therefore, does not arise at this stage.
